Meet Our Family
Legacy Markets, Legacy Fuel and Legacy Carwash are family owned and operated businesses. We currently serve the areas of Culpeper, Shadwell, Charlottesville and Crozet, Virginia. We chose the name “Legacy” because our greatest hope is that our locally owned businesses will be legacies in the communities that we serve and continue to grow alongside our family. We pride ourselves on full-service kitchens with food made daily for local residents and visitors traveling through the area, Self-service, easy to use fueling stations and a full-service carwash that convenient for you!
Our family has deep roots in Central Virginia. Jeff Sprouse is a native of Crozet, VA., and a graduate of Western Albemarle High School. He has made a career in food service, with young success, purchasing the Brownsville Market at age 25 in 1990. He operated Brownsville for 20 years prior to selling it in 2008. He later moved on the building Legacy Market- Crozet in late 2015 and then purchased our current stores; Legacy Markets Shadwell and Culpeper, Legacy Fuels and Legacy Carwash.
Michelle Stribling Sprouse graduated from Fluvanna County High School and joined the family business in 2005. Michelle’s previous professional experience included marketing/communications working for Holiday Inn Monticello, Charlottesville/Albemarle Chamber of Commerce, and Farmington Country Club (Charlottesville).
Jeff and Michelle have been married for 29 years and have raised 4 children.
Logan Sprouse (Jeff and Michelle’s youngest son) also a graduate of Western Albemarle High School decided to join the family business. He managed the Crozet location until 2018 until shortly after he transitioned to help open Legacy Markets Culpeper. He now manages Legacy Markets Shadwell, Legacy Fuel and Legacy Carwash. Logan got married in fall of 2022 to Taylor and they recently had a baby boy named, Easton. Taylor is a graduate of Monticello High School and was previously employed by WorldStrides. She transitioned to the family business in 2022 working in our stores and behind the scenes at our central Legacy office. Logan hopes that Easton will be the next generation to carry on these legacies his family has built.
Lauren Wood (Jeff and Michelle’s oldest daughter) graduated from Miller School of Albemarle in 2012 and Piedmont Virginia Community College shortly after. Lauren’s previous careers include; University of Virginia Hospital Phlebotomist and University of Virginia Bookstore in Accounts Payable. Lauren got married in 2017 to Dwayne Wood. She and her husband currently call Earlysville, VA home with their two boys’; Wade and Walker. She recently made the decision to join her family’s business in 2023 and is working in the Legacy office.
Jordan Sprouse (Jeff and Michelle’s youngest daughter) will be graduating from James Madison University in May 2024. She has made the decision to join the team as well. Jordan will begin training in the Legacy Office shortly after graduation and is excited to find her place in the company.
